Moreover, the role holder will be involved in the development of the strategic direction of the organisation and contribute to business planning, ensuring financial implications are considered in business planning. Further to this, the applicant will provide support on any project or programme as agreed with the Assistant Director of Finance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to shaping and understanding the organisation's long-term strategic goals and direction.
  • Actively attend business and planning meetings with service delivery managers, supporting informed decision-making and ensuring financial considerations are fully understood.
  • Offer expert advice on financial strategy, policies, standards, and best practices to support sound financial decision-making.
  • Support the development and adherence to financial governance frameworks and processes.
  • Contribute to internal audit activities, promoting compliance and best practices across teams.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts for assigned areas, tailored to meet the specific information needs of each stakeholder.
  • Identify and report on key financial variances, providing clear commentary on their implications.
  • Develop budgets and forecasts that optimise the use of available resources, identify risks and opportunities, and assess the financial impact of regulatory or service delivery changes.
  • Analyse and interpret financial and performance data, delivering insightful reports for management and board use.
  • Complete financial returns and surveys as needed.
  • Assist in rolling out budgeting, forecasting, and financial management software to internal teams, providing guidance and training where necessary.

  • Assist in the shaping of the financial department strategy.
  • Lead and support any project and programme as agreed with the Assistant Director of Finance.

Criteria

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) or five years' experience in a similar role.
