My client a leading public sector organisation based in Belfast is currently seeking a Full-Time Finance Officer.

Hours: 37.5 hours, Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm

Pay: £15.33 per hour

KEY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

Service Delivery

  • Assist with the day to day functions within the Finance Directorate.
  • Assist with co-ordinating, planning and managing Finance Directorate processes and tasks to meet regular and ad hoc reporting requirements and timetables.
  • Assist in co-ordinating, planning and managing the annual Financial Planning process.
  • Assist with the processes and procedures used in the Financial Management function to facilitate best working practices and ensure the delivery of a quality service. Review, and update, these as necessary for continuous improvement.
  • To assist in developing the use of financial systems, reporting and enquiry tools and working methods to advance the quality and efficiency of financial information.
  • To deal with ad hoc reporting and enquiries as required by Senior Finance Managers and other senior SPPG, PHA staff.
  • To liaise with senior staff in order to assist with their understanding of financial information or to assist with any related enquiries.
  • To maintain appropriate record keeping within the Finance Directorate to support processes and satisfy audit requirements.

Collaborative Working

  • To work with managers and finance colleagues to ensure accurate financial information is provided.
  • To contribute to the continuous improvement of the delivery of an efficient and effective customer-focused financial service. This will involve gaining an understanding of the work done by, and demands placed on, managers throughout the organisation.

Communications and Information Management

  • To produce appropriate reports for managers to aid the corporate decision making approach.
  • The postholder will be expected to review the reporting requirements in relation to their area of work as necessary in order to meet new or changing needs.
  • Liaise with various staff, both internal and external in order to adhere to deadlines and responding to queries.

Quality

  • To ensure that the needs of patients, clients and their carers are at the core of the way that the Strategic Planning and Performance Group and Public Health Agency delivers services and that capital and financial resources are effectively deployed to meet those needs.
  • Ensure systems and procedures are in place within the section to deliver a quality service. Review and update these as necessary for continuous improvement.

People Management and Development

  • To develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and staff throughout the organisation to ensure achievement of organisational objectives and the effective functioning of the finance directorate.
  • To participate in the Strategic Planning and Performance Group's Performance Review Scheme and proactively seek out development opportunities.

Essential Criteria

A university degree or relevant professional qualification and 1 year's recent finance experience*,

OR

3 year's recent finance experience*.

* Recent finance experience is defined as having worked in a financial role within a Finance Department.

Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment. This criteria will be waived in the case of applicants whose disability prohibits driving but who have access to a form of transport approved by The Organisation which will permit them to carry out the duties of the post.

SECTION 2: The following are ESSENTIAL criteria which will be measured during the interview/ selection stage:

Good Communication Skills.

Ability to use own initiative.

Ability to plan workload within the Finance Department, defining objectives, achieving deadlines and implementing action plans etc.

Ability to develop good working relationships with all officers within and external to the organisation
