Job Title: Contact Worker (Public Sector) - Belfast - £12.86 p/h

Location: Belfast
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm
Contract: Full-Time, Temporary (ongoing contract)
Pay: £12.86 per hour

Role Overview

We are recruiting for a Contact Worker Band 4. The specific Job Description for any role offered would be made available at the time of offer. The Contact Worker will be primarily responsible for assisting social work practitioners in the provision of quality social work services to children and families specifically for the provision of contact. The Contact Worker will not have case management responsibility but will undertake tasks allocated by the Team Leader in respect of contact, which will include; planning, organising, supervising, observing, recording, support of contact and any transport needs. The Contact Worker will also be expected to attend his/her own development through training, supervision and learning in line with NISCC registration and must be registered 6 months within taking up the post. The Contact Worker will practice in accordance with Regional HSC Values and the Northern Ireland Social Care Council Codes of Conduct and Practice for Social Care Workers.

Key Responsibilities

Undertakes work under the direction of the Team Leader or Social Worker and in keeping with the assessed Care Plan and contact needs of the family. 2. Undertakes the arrangement and delivery of services, assessed by social work staff as needed to support children and families. This will include a significant amount of direct contact with children and families; this may also include indirect contact. 3. Undertakes a baseline contact assessment with children and families to include observing, recording, supporting, and providing advice and guidance to parents. 4. Assists in delivery of contact services including the supervision of contact arrangements as directed. This will include transport issues and ensuring completion of appropriate documentation*. 5. Participation and contribution of meetings in respect of children and families and provide overview reports and updates for meetings in respect of contact. 6. Liaising with carers/ parents and other professional's to arrange and facilitate contact times and dates for contact.

Essential Criteria

Applicants must hold either NVQ Level 3, Health & Social Care or relevant equivalent qualification plus two years relevant experience. Or HNC/HND in relevant subject, or relevant equivalent qualification, plus one year relevant experience or four years relevant experience 2. Ability to produce clear written reports and records. Shortlisting/Pre Employment Checks Qualifications/ Registration 1. Either currently hold or be eligible for immediate registration with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council on the social care part of the register. Must be registered 6 months within taking up post. Shortlisting/Pre Employment Checks Other 2. Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment.

This criterion will be waived in the case of applicants whose disability prohibits driving Shortlisting/Pre Employment Checks 1 If you hold a provisional driving licence for use in the UK and have access to a car but have been unable to undertake your driving test due to COVID 19 restrictions you will be eligible for application however if deemed appointable will not go live on the waiting list until you have passed your driving test. Page 7 of 10 Factor Criteria Method of Assessment but who have access to a form of transport approved by the Trust which will permit them to carry out the duties of the post.

Desirable Criteria (Advantageous but not required)

Effective planning & organisational skills with an ability to prioritise own workload. Interview 5. Effective communications skills to meet the needs of the post in full. 6. Have six months experience of direct work with children and families in a family and child care setting. 7. Ability to use own initiative. Knowledge 8. Demonstrate an understanding of all aspects of the role as set out in the Job Summary.
