Senior Buyer - Premium Food Products

At Staffline we are currently recruiting for a market leading company who are seeking to recruit an experienced Buyer with a strong food background to join their team who have established a reputation for the source and supply of premium speciality food products.

Working with this fast growing, progressive and innovative business, the successful candidate will be responsible for working with existing and potential suppliers to purchase key products to fulfil customer requirements. This organisation has carved out a very distinctive premium position in the food service and fine retail market and are focusing on further developing and expanding their business, providing a full range of products that will ensure they maintain their relevance to their customers.

Key responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Identify and build relationships with new and existing key suppliers, using product and industry knowledge.
  • Identify market gaps and opportunities within the food service sector and assigned product categories.
  • Work with suppliers to ensure that samples are received as needed and, manage logging and dispatch of these where required.
  • Source new suppliers where required to meet customer product and pricing needs.
  • Provide support to the development and management of supplier contracts.
  • Work closely with the Supply team to avoid shortages and assist with Supplier delivery issues.
  • Agree with supplier's promotion costs and volume availability, maintaining and updating promotion Masterfile preparing pricing for Commercial approval.
  • Research the local and wider market to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Create competitor analysis reports.
  • Create pricing in line with margin parameters and with input from the sales team.
  • Implement Price changes as directed by sales and commercial team members.
  • Solve pricing queries from suppliers and customers.
  • Complete pricing uploads on various customer trading sites (EDI etc) and e-commerce portals
  • Work with supplier systems to ensure correct and suitable product is sourced.
  • Notify customers and sales team of product and pricing changes.
  • Provide assistance for planning and execution of Seasonal and promotional launches.
  • Attend supplier meetings & document minutes.
  • Work with team members on any projects currently being launched within the commercial & buying department.

Interested applicants will meet the following requirements:

  • Essential is a minimum of 2- 3 years proven track record of both buying and commercial acumen gained through experience in the Food service industry/FMCG sector.
  • Relevant 3rd level qualification is highly desirable.
  • Strong negotiation, organisational and planning skills.
  • Ability to focus and prioritise tasks.
  • Experience dealing with third-party relationships (suppliers etc.)
  • Team Player
  • Commercial and profitability focused.
  • Strong problem-solving ability
  • Proven systematic, analytic approach to work and strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications- advanced Excel required with good data analytical skills.
  • ERP system knowledge.

This is a permanent position that will be based in Dublin 24 with a flexible hybrid working model after initial training.
