Job Title: Bookkeeper
Location: County Louth

Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our dynamic team within a well-established accountancy practice in County Louth. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing client financial records, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and providing key support to our accountants and clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records including general ledgers, trial balances, and balance sheets.
  • Process day-to-day financial transactions, including accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Prepare VAT returns and ensure accurate tax calculations in line with Irish tax laws.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts for clients.
  • Reconcile bank statements and ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Assist with payroll processing for clients, ensuring compliance with PAYE/PRSI regulations.
  • Provide support in year-end audits and liaise with auditors when necessary.
  • Handle queries from clients regarding their financial records and provide advice on bookkeeping practices.
  • Assist in maintaining filing systems and other documentation for clients as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of client data at all times.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience (2+ years) in bookkeeping, preferably within an accountancy practice.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, VAT, PAYE, and tax regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar).
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with clients and team members.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • AAT qualification, or similar, would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Knowledge of Irish tax and accounting laws is a plus.

Working Hours:
Full-time, Monday to Friday.
