Warehouse Operative Driver Chargehand - Band 3

• Location: Boucher Road
• Contract: Temporary, 3 months
• Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday
• Pay: Band 3

Role summary

Support the supervisor in managing warehouse and driver operatives while maintaining the daily distribution cycle for the Community Equipment and Continence Service. Duties include receiving, storing, picking, dispatching, delivering, collecting, assembling and decontaminating equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Drive Category C vehicles safely and operate vehicle lifts and ramps.
• Complete vehicle checks, journey logs, fuel records and report defects or accidents.
• Deliver, assemble, demonstrate, collect and dismantle equipment, obtaining customer signatures.
• Assist with staff supervision and deputise for the supervisor when required.
• Manage stock intake, inventory records, barcode scanning and stock checks.
• Help plan delivery routes, vehicle loading and schedules.
• Decontaminate returned equipment and dispose of condemned items in line with procedures.
• Maintain a clean, safe warehouse and ensure compliance with health and safety, PPE, manual handling and fire-safety requirements.
• Carry out checks on mechanical handling equipment and report faults.
• Promote teamwork and good working relationships.

Essential requirements

• A valid UK Category C driving licence.
• Either:
  • Two years' experience in procurement or logistics; or
  • Three GCSEs/equivalent, including English and Maths at grades A*-C, plus 18 months' procurement or logistics experience.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and follow instructions.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Competence in Microsoft Word and Excel.
