Senior Commercial Manager

Staffline Ireland are recruiting for a Senior Commercial Manager on behalf of one of the largest providers of cut flowers to UK retailers. The Senior Commercial Manager is responsible for defining and delivering the commercial strategy across a portfolio of retail customers throughout Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. This is a senior commercial role with accountability for developing customer relationships, driving profitable growth and ensuring company delivers a strong and relevant proposition within the Ireland market.

Responsibilities:

  • Take commercial ownership of a portfolio of retail customers across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
  • Develop customer-specific commercial strategies aligned with wider objectives.
  • Build and maintain senior customer relationships, acting as the key commercial contact for the Ireland business.
  • Lead customer meetings, reviews, negotiations and strategic discussions.
  • Develop Joint Business Plans or equivalent customer plans where appropriate.
  • Ensure clear actions and commitments are followed through following customer meetings.
  • Develop and deliver the commercial strategy for the Ireland market.
  • Identify opportunities to grow company presence across existing and prospective retail customers.
  • Maintain strong understanding of the competitive landscape, market dynamics and customer propositions.
  • Identify opportunities across range, pricing, promotions, seasonal events and innovation.
  • Ensure Ireland commercial plans support the wider business strategy.
  • Build strong working relationships with Commercial Leads and Account Directors across the GB business.
  • Share customer strategies, performance insight and learning across markets.
  • Leverage existing GB customer relationships and knowledge where retailers operate across both GB and Ireland.
  • Ensure relevant product innovation, NPD and commercial opportunities are considered for the Ireland market.
  • Maintain alignment while ensuring propositions remain appropriate for local shopper and market requirements.
  • Take accountability for revenue, margin and profitability across assigned customer accounts.
  • Monitor customer and product profitability and identify corrective actions where required.
  • Lead pricing discussions and commercial negotiations.
  • Understand key cost drivers and ensure commercial decisions protect sustainable margin.
  • Identify opportunities to improve product mix, promotional effectiveness and overall account value.
  • Any other duties role may involve.

Person Specification:

  • Strong commercial or account management experience within FMCG, retail, fresh produce or another fast-paced consumer sector.
  • Proven experience managing retail customer accounts and building strong customer relationships.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience managing revenue, margin and profitability.
  • Experience developing customer strategies and identifying growth opportunities.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing capability.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to use data to support commercial decisions.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with confidence engaging senior customer stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple customer accounts and competing priorities effectively.
  • Strong cross-functional working skills and ability to influence teams outside direct reporting lines.
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, with travel to GB as required.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience working with major UK and/or Irish grocery retailers.
  • Knowledge of the Ireland retail and consumer landscape.
  • Experience within flowers, plants, horticulture, fresh produce or other perishable categories.
  • Experience working across multiple markets or geographical territories.
  • Knowledge of ERP and commercial reporting systems such as Rubicon.
  • Experience working alongside NPD and category/insights functions.

The Rewards

The successful Senior Commercial Manager will enjoy a competitive salary circa £65,000 depending on experience plus:
