About the Role
We are currently recruiting a Band 5 Finance Officer to join a busy healthcare Finance team based in the SEHSCT
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional to provide financial management support to senior Trust staff and budget holders. The role will involve supporting budget setting, financial reporting, variance analysis and the identification of financial risks, helping the Trust maintain strong financial control and achieve its financial objectives.
The role offers hybrid working, with the successful candidate working 3 days in the office and 2 days from home following completion of the initial training period.
Key Responsibilities
- Liaise with senior Trust staff and budget holders to provide support and advice on budgets and financial queries.
- Assist with the annual budget-setting process in line with agreed guidelines and timetables.
- Support the development of cash-releasing efficiency, recovery and contingency plans.
- Identify financial risks and pressures and support appropriate corrective actions.
- Assist with the development and improvement of financial systems, reporting tools and working methods.
- Produce and analyse financial information to support effective financial management.
- Investigate financial variances and provide clear explanations to managers.
- Complete ad hoc financial reports and respond to enquiries from senior Finance staff and Trust managers.
- Support the Finance Manager and Band 7 Finance Officer in maintaining financial stability and achieving financial targets.
- Visit other sites across SEHSCT as required.
Essential Criteria
- University degree and 2 years' suitable relevant financial experience; or
- AAT/HND qualification and 2 years' suitable relevant financial experience; or
- Part-qualified with a CCAB-recognised professional body and 1 year's suitable relevant financial experience; or
- 3 years' suitable relevant financial experience at Band 4 level.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
- Competent Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to manipulate and analyse large volumes of data.
- Good understanding of accounting principles, including accruals and prepayments.
- Ideally, experience in management accounts and investigating financial variances.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage workloads and meet departmental deadlines.
- Full driving licence and access to a car, as the role requires travel to other SEHSCT sites.
Additional Information
The vacancy is expected to be for 9-12 months and is offered on a full-time basis of 37.5 hours per week.
Hybrid working available on a 3 days office / 2 days home basis following the initial training period.
Please note that there will be a probationary/training period at the beginning of the assignment, during which the successful candidate will be required to work full-time in the office to facilitate training and ensure they are fully supported in the role.
Due to the requirement to visit other SEHSCT sites, candidates must hold a full driving licence and have access to a car.
