Job description

We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced CNC Milling Machine Operator & Programmer to join their manufacturing team.

This is a full-time, permanent position working a 39-hour day shift, with opportunities for overtime. The successful candidate will have previous experience operating and setting CNC milling machines and will be comfortable working from technical drawings to produce high-quality, precision components.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operating and setting CNC milling machines to produce components to specification.
  • Programming and making adjustments to CNC machines where required.
  • Reading and interpreting technical engineering drawings, dimensions and tolerances, including GD&T.
  • Selecting appropriate cutting tools, machining methods and materials.
  • Carrying out in-process quality inspections using precision measuring equipment, including micrometers and calipers.
  • Monitoring machining processes and making adjustments to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Maintaining a high standard of housekeeping and workplace safety.
  • Working independently and as part of a team to meet production requirements.
  • Ensuring all work is completed accurately and to the required quality standards.

Candidate Requirements

  • Ideally 2-3 years' experience in a CNC machining, milling, machine operating or setting role.
  • Strong understanding of CNC milling and general machining practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and tolerances.
  • Good knowledge of cutting tools, machining techniques and materials.
  • Experience using measuring equipment such as micrometers and calipers.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a team.
  • Experience with Siemens and/or Hurco controls would be an advantage, although training will be provided.
  • Good spoken English is essential.
  • Candidates must have valid permission to work in Ireland.
