At Staffline Recruitment we are delighted to be partnering with a well-established public sector organisation to recruit a Cyber Security Operations Analyst. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career cyber security professional to join a busy ICT function and support the day-to-day operation, monitoring, and effectiveness of security controls across a complex technology environment.
The successful candidate will play a hands-on operational role across security monitoring, alert handling, incident response, vulnerability and patch management, endpoint and platform security, and user awareness activities. While the primary focus is operational cyber security, the role will also support governance, risk, compliance, audits, assessments, and wider security processes when required.
Key Responsibilities:
· Monitor and operate cyber security tools including SIEM, EDR/XDR, antivirus, email security, and cloud security platforms.
· Triage, investigate, and respond to security alerts and events, escalating incidents in line with agreed procedures.
· Support incident containment, remediation, recovery, documentation, and post-incident review activity.
· Assist with vulnerability scanning, patch management monitoring, asset visibility, and remediation tracking.
· Support endpoint and platform security controls, including deployment, configuration, health checks, and baseline hardening.
· Contribute to security awareness initiatives, phishing simulations, audits, compliance activity, penetration testing coordination, and evidence gathering.
· Work closely with ICT teams, business users, suppliers, and wider security stakeholders to maintain strong operational security practices.
About You:
· 1-3 years' experience in cyber security, IT operations, ICT support, or a similar technical role with security responsibilities.
· Practical exposure to threat detection, incident response, vulnerability management, patching, and operational security processes.
· Familiarity with tools such as SIEM, EDR/XDR, firewalls, antivirus, and vulnerability scanners.
· Good understanding of networking fundamentals, Windows/Linux operating systems, and core security concepts.
· Awareness of frameworks and standards such as ISO 27001, NIST, or similar.
· Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
· Ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
Desirable Experience:
· Experience with security awareness or phishing simulation platforms.
· Exposure to public sector or regulated environments.
· Experience working with third-party suppliers or managed security services.
· Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, ISO 27001, Microsoft SC/AZ, ISC2, or ISACA would be advantageous.
What's on Offer:
· Salary range of €45,526 - €61,827.
· 12-month fixed-term contract.
· Hybrid working model, with one day per week required in Dublin.
· 26 days' annual leave, excluding public holidays.
· Defined contribution pension scheme.
· Opportunity to develop hands-on cyber security operations experience within a large, service-focused environment.
If you are an ambitious cyber security professional with a strong operational mindset and an interest in incident response, vulnerability management, and security monitoring, we would be delighted to hear from you.
