Work Pattern: 36hrs per week:
Saturday 1200-2000
Sunday 0800-1530
Monday off
Tuesday 1300-2000
Wednesday off
Thursday 1200-2000
Friday 1200-2000
Rate of Pay: £17.37 per hour
The Client: Local Government body based in the Newry & Mourne District, serving local residents.
The Role:
Main Purpose of Post/Job Summary:
The post holder will be responsible for the effective and efficient fulfilment of the Council's statutory duties with regard to the enforcement of all relevant legislation. The post holder will be required to liaise with personnel from relevant agencies to deliver a service which aims to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour in Newry, Mourne and Down District Council area.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Undertake high visibility, directed foot patrols in the District to deter and detect anti-social behaviour including joint PSNI/DDC night time patrols
- Enforce relevant sections of legislation including the Litter (NI) Order, The Pollution Control and Local Government (NI) Order, Street Trading Act (NI), Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) (NI) Order, the Dogs (NI) Order, Council By-Laws and any other legislation, in so far as it may relate to the functions of the post, Such enforcement should include the issuing of fixed penalty fines as and when appropriate
- To gather evidence, produce witness statements, interview under PACE and attend court as necessary in the enforcement of relevant legislation and byelaws
Requirements:
- Relevant 3rd level qualification
- Ability to manage own work without close supervision including frequent lone working
- Ability to undertake investigations and exercise statutory powers
- Evidence of accuracy, attention to detail and to keep detailed written records of investigations
- Fully competent and knowledgeable in the application of the legal requirements pertaining to evidence gathering and investigation processes
General
A full current driving licence valid in the UK and access to a car, or
