Hours of Work: casual hours each week agreed in advance
Rate of Pay: £14.52 per hour
The Client: Local Government body based in Newry, serving local residents.
The Role:
The post holder will be expected to be flexible and adaptable to meet the changing needs and requirements of the organisation, and duties and responsibilities may vary without changing the purpose of the job or level of responsibility.
The post holder will deliver customer support services and swimming tuition at various levels to individuals of all abilities, groups and schools and will assist in the management of the Learn to Swim and Swimming Programmes.
The post holder will provide relief cover for other positions within the Centre such as Lifeguard, Supervisor, Cashier/Receptionist.
Duties and Responsibilities will include:
Planning, delivery and evaluation of swimming lessons to accredited standards, for the following clients/groups:
- Primary/Secondary School Children
- Public Swimming Lessons to children and adults including lesson programmes leading to swimming awards
Requirements:
Education/Qualifications:
- A current Level 2 ASA Swimming Instructor qualification or STA Swimming Certificate or equivalent qualification
- Current RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification, assessed at 2 metres (or more) and includes spinal or rescue board or PXB assessment or equivalent nationally recognised qualifications
Experience:
- 6 months working experience in a customer facing role
- Previous experience of teaching swimming to individuals and/or groups in a structured environment to include developing and delivery lesson plans
Skills and Knowledge:
- Have a good knowledge of:
- Role of Lifeguard
- Role of Swimming Instructor
- Workplace Health & Safety
- First Aid
- Ability to keep accurate records of training and competency
Other Requirements:
- Attend on going training to maintain National Pool Lifeguard Qualification
Desirable:
Education/Qualifications:
- A current recognised First Aid at Work Certificate (eg British Red Cross, St John's Ambulance, Order of Malta)
Experience:
- Previous working experience as a Lifeguard
- Previous working experience of cleaning duties within a public venue or commercial building
