Health & Safety Officer / Manager

Hours: 8:30am - 5:00/5:30pm, Monday to Friday (flexibility available)

We are currently seeking an experienced Health & Safety professional to join a growing HSQE team. This role can be shaped at either Officer or Manager level depending on experience.

The successful candidate will join an established department comprising a Senior HSQE / Environmental & Quality Manager and a Health & Safety Training Administrator, playing a key role in supporting and driving health and safety standards across the business.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support the management and ongoing development of the HSQE function across the business
  • Carry out regular site audits and inspections (formal and informal)
  • Analyse safety data, identify trends, and implement continuous improvement initiatives
  • Develop, review, and maintain H&S policies, procedures, risk assessments, and safe systems of work in line with legislation
  • Prepare project-specific Health & Safety Plans
  • Support incident, accident, and near-miss investigations, including reporting and corrective actions
  • Deliver inductions and contribute to internal training programmes
  • Promote a strong safety culture through toolbox talks, campaigns, and internal communications
  • Support ISO and Safe-T-Cert accreditation systems (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001)

Requirements

  • Minimum Level 7 qualification in Occupational Health & Safety (or equivalent)
  • Previous experience in a construction or civil engineering environment
  • Strong understanding of H&S legislation and compliance requirements
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Strong IT skills (Microsoft Office essential; SHEQ systems advantageous)
  • Full clean driving licence essential
  • Must be willing to travel to multiple sites as required
