Our client, a leading national transport and infrastructure organisation, is seeking an experienced Fuel Supply Chain Technical Engineer to join their engineering and supply chain team.
This is a unique opportunity to take ownership of critical fuel storage and distribution infrastructure across multiple operational sites, ensuring compliance, safety, maintenance excellence, and continuous improvement of fuel-related assets.
The successful candidate will play a key role in managing fuel infrastructure projects, contractor performance, regulatory compliance, and the ongoing maintenance of strategically important fuel storage facilities.
Please note, this opportunity will be offered on a fixed-term contract basis initially with view to permanency.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the technical operation and maintenance of fuel storage and distribution installations across multiple sites
- Lead fuel infrastructure refurbishment and improvement projects from design through to implementation.
- Develop and manage preventative maintenance programmes
- Prepare scopes of work and support procurement activities for maintenance, inspection, and refurbishment contracts
- Monitor contractor performance, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and industry standards
- Oversee all health and safety aspects associated with fuel storage and distribution operations
- Manage inspections of tanks, pipework, bunds, interceptors, and fuel intake systems
- Track maintenance activities and ensure accurate recording within maintenance management systems
- Produce technical and performance reports, including budget and maintenance performance metrics
About You
You will be a technically strong engineering professional with experience managing fuel, petroleum, chemical storage, or similar industrial infrastructure.
Essential Requirements
- Engineering degree or equivalent engineering experience
- Minimum 5 years' experience in the operation, maintenance, design, or construction of fuel, biofuel, petroleum, chemical, or bulk liquid storage facilities
- Experience managing large-scale engineering or commissioning projects
- Strong contractor and contract management experience
- Excellent technical understanding of fuel storage and handling systems
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience managing engineering change and continuous improvement initiatives
- Proficient in analysing and presenting technical and operational data
Desirable
- Knowledge of the oil, fuel, or energy sector
- Experience managing budgets and maintenance expenditure
- Familiarity with maintenance management software
- Understanding of regulatory compliance relating to fuel storage facilities
