Health & Safety Advisor
Belfast
Temporary up to 3 months
Rate of Pay: £18.13 per hour
Hours of Work: 37.50hrs per week
The Client: NI Water
The Role:
- Support the development and implementation of health & safety best practice arrangements across Northern Ireland Water, ensuring it complies with all current health & safety legislation including Acts, Regulations, related Approved Codes of Practice, and other statutory compliance guidance and standards.
- Be responsible for providing clear, strategic leadership for the continual development of a safe environment for colleagues, contractors, visitors and the public.
- Promote and enable a best practice culture with respect to health & safety
- Work with function managers to establish and maintain a program of continual improvement in the management of health & safety within their areas of responsibility.
Essential Criteria:
For the purposes of shortlisting, applicants must demonstrate how they fulfil all of the essential criteria outlined below:
- Must hold a NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety, or equivalent.
- A minimum of one years' demonstrable experience in a health & safety role, including inspection and auditing experience across a range of disciplines and work activities.
- As this post requires you to travel on official duty throughout Northern Ireland, you must have a full, current driving license or access to a reliable means of transport, which will enable you to fulfil your responsibilities. This is an operational requirement and is essential to meet business needs.
Desirable Criteria:
- Candidates have or are presently working towards a third level qualification in occupational health and safety, such as, the NEBOSH Diploma, or equivalent. It is an expectation of the role that successful applicants will attain the NEBOSH Diploma. Candidates will have three years in which to attain the qualification.
- Experience of supporting the development and maintenance of OHSAS 18001 and / or ISO 45001 H&S management systems.
- Applicants are Chartered members of IOSH or working towards Chartered status.
- Train the trainer qualification.
