Technical Support Officer

Location: Belfast

Hours of work: Monday - Friday / 9am - 5pm (37.5 hours p/w)

Salary: £19.32 p/h

Duration: Temporary ongoing

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-focused Technical Support Officer to support the Development Programme Group within Land & Regeneration Management. This role will play a key part in coordinating and completing technical assessments that support delivery of the Social Housing Development Programme and its agreed performance objectives.

  • Coordinate and complete a programme of technical assessments to support delivery of the Social Housing Development Programme
  • Produce reports and recommendations to inform decision-making and project actions
  • Ensure applications for Project Approval are technically assessed, including design compliance, costs and value for money, to support required starts and budget expenditure within each financial year
  • Undertake pre-assessment discussions with Housing Association partners to support timely scheme approvals
  • Provide technical advice and assessments in response to queries from external partners (e.g. Housing Associations, DfC, DoF) and internal NIHE colleagues
  • Audit agreed samples of completed SHDP-funded new-build schemes to ensure compliance with approved proposals, including site visits and review of "as built" drawings
  • Support technical assessments across new build, adaptations and other funding streams as required
  • Build and maintain effective partnerships with DfC and other key stakeholders
  • Contribute to reviews, consultations and development of design standards, promoting best practice and innovation
  • Ensure all project documentation is recorded and filed in line with internal procedures
  • Participate in ongoing learning and development and share knowledge to ensure consistent funding assessments

Qualifications & Experience

Applicants must meet one of the following:

  • Registered Architect or Architecture graduate with at least 2 years' relevant experience, or
  • BTEC Higher Certificate/Diploma (or equivalent) in an Architecture/Construction-related discipline with at least 3 years' relevant experience, or
  • Exceptionally, candidates without the above qualifications but with at least 5 years' relevant experience may be considered
