Pest Officer
Location: Belfast
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week
Pay Rate: £15.82 per hour
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver a comprehensive pest control service, including the treatment, control and destruction of rodents, insects and other pests, as well as disinfection and disinfestation of premises, land, sewers, drains and personal effects.
- Carry out sewer and drain testing and treatment, including supervisory duties where required, and provide technical advice to Environmental Health Officers.
- Undertake port-related duties, including ship inspections and relief cover, and control of mosquitoes, flies and other pests through baiting and treatment programmes.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on work undertaken.
- Support training activities, including participation in student training programmes and induction of new staff.
- Liaise with internal teams and external partners, including housing providers, utilities and other agencies.
- Comply with all Council policies and procedures, including health and safety, customer care, equality, safeguarding, training, and recruitment and selection processes.
Essential Criteria
Applicants must, as at the closing date for receipt of application forms
- have a full, current driving licence and
- at least one years relevant work experience in each of the following areas
- pest control operations, programmes, or treatments of pests
- following appropriate health and safety procedures whilst carrying out duties in the workplace, outlining any risks associated with the job role; and
- providing a high level of customer care to internal and external customers including dealing with and resolving customer complaints and enquiries.
