Livestock Sustainability Modeller
Location: Hillsborough
Pay Rate: £24.59 per hour
Working Hours: Part-time, 12-22.2 hrs per week
About the Role:
The Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute (AFBI) is seeking a motivated and experienced Livestock Sustainability Modeller to join our team on a part-time basis. This role focuses on conducting applied research in the environmental sustainability of livestock production systems, including modelling, data analysis, and dissemination of findings through peer-reviewed publications.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to impactful research that informs sustainable agricultural practices and food systems.
Main Duties:
- Conduct sustainability research with a focus on livestock production systems.
- Perform life cycle assessment (LCA) modelling or script-based programming to analyse environmental impacts.
- Contribute to the design and execution of research methodologies.
- Analyse complex datasets and translate findings into meaningful insights.
- Prepare and publish research findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support project outcomes.
Essential Criteria:
1a. A PhD in a relevant area AND 2 years' demonstrable postdoctoral experience in a relevant area; OR
1b. An undergraduate degree in a relevant area AND 4 years' demonstrable experience in a relevant area
In addition, candidates must demonstrate:
- 2. A minimum of two peer-reviewed first-author publications
- Proven experience in either:
- Life cycle assessment (LCA) modelling, or
- Script-based programming (e.g., Python, R) applied to agricultural production or agri-food supply chains
