Staffline Recruitment Ireland is seeking a Shunter Driver. This is a full time permanent role based on-site in Annacotty.

Organisation:
Our Limerick based client has more than 50 years' experience within warehousing, transport and distribution solutions. It has multiple locations and depots across Ireland, with the headquarter stationed in Limerick. Exceptional customer service is what they are known for!

Responsibilities:
As a Shunter Driver you are responsible for the safe and efficient movement of trailers, trucks and containers within the depot. Daily tasks and responsibilities include:

Vehicle & Trailer Movement

  • Manoeuvring trucks, trailers, and containers safely within the yard or depot;
  • Coupling and uncoupling trailers while ensuring all safety procedures are followed;
  • Positioning vehicles at loading bays, docks, or designated areas for loading/unloading;
  • Assisting HGV drivers with parking and trailer swaps when required.

Yard & Fleet Operations

  • Ensuring efficient traffic flow within the yard by organising vehicle movements;
  • Conducting pre-shift and post-shift vehicle checks to identify any defects;
  • Reporting any mechanical issues or damage to vehicles and trailers.

Safety & Compliance

  • Following yard safety protocols, including speed limits and designated shunting routes;
  • Adhering to health & safety regulations, including the use of PPE.

Coordination & Communication

  • Communicating with transport managers and warehouse teams to ensure smooth loading/unloading operations.
  • Keeping records of trailer movements, vehicle inspections, and incidents.
  • Assisting with loading and unloading if required, depending on the employer.

Benefits:

  • Good salary (depending on experience);
  • Permanent full time role;
  • Regular weekday hours from Monday to Friday (7 am - 4.30 pm);

Criteria:

  • Valid driving license - Category CE;
  • Valid Digi Tacho card;
  • Fully compliant with CPC regulations;
  • Knowledge of safe vehicle manoeuvring coupling, and uncoupling trailers;
  • Good understanding of health and safety regulations.
