Seasonal Lifeguards

Our Client, A Large Public Sector Organisation based in Benone require Seasonal Lifeguards to join their team.

Hours of work: Up to 37 hours - must be fully flexible.

Hourly Rate: £11.44

Main Purpose of Post

• To carry out pool duties during the summer season ensuring the safety of users within the Complex.

• Ensure that the department complies with all statutory and legislative requirements by adhering to these requirements and working in accordance with good governance and health and safety requirements.

• Ensure that all responsibilities are carried out in a timely and effective manner and that general confidentiality is maintained in all areas relating to the work of the Council.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensuring the safety of bathers by adhering to both Normal and Emergency Operating Procedures.

• Carry out and record regular water testing as required.

• Ensure supervision of pool area is rotated with other Lifeguards to maintain high standard of Health and Safety.

• Ensure all Life aids around the complex are in place and in a working condition and report and report any faults to Warden.

• Ensure rotational supervision of activities area within the complex.

• Regular cleaning of pool area including toilets and changing rooms and ensure the areas cleanliness are maintained to a high standard.

• Report any defects of equipment to Warden.

• Assist in cleaning duties of other washrooms within the perimeters of Benone Tourist Complex as required.

General

• By its nature the post will require flexible working to meet the needs of the service. Attend meetings of the Council and any relevant working groups and prepare and present reports as required.

• Act in accordance with the Code of Conduct for local Government employees.

• Comply with and actively promote the Council's policies and procedures, including those relating to Fair employment, Equal Opportunities, and Health, Safety and Well being.

• Undertake the duties outlined above in a way which will enhance and protect the reputation and public profile of the Council.

• Undertake any other duties as deemed appropriate to the achievement of the purpose and function of this post

Essential Criteria:

Possess at least one or more of the following qualifications or equivalent qualification:

• National Beach Lifeguard Qualification
• NPLQ
• RLSS Silver Cross
• RLSS Bronze Cross
• Award of Merit
• RLSS Pool Lifeguard Module

It will be necessary for a pool water test to be undertaken by shortlisted candidates.

Desirable:

• Valid public first aid award such as Red Cross or St. John Ambulance Award.

• Previous experience of working as a lifeguard / beach -guard combined with satisfactory references.
