Job description
Our Client, A Large Public Sector Organisation based in Coleraine require a Risk and Governance Officer to join their team.
Role : Risk and Governance Officer.
Location : Cloonavin Coleraine.
Hours of Work : 37 hrs per week.
Hourly Rate : 1-12 weeks £18.41 13 weeks + £20.02
Main Duties :
- Lead on the embedding and continuous improvement of the risk management framework.
- To assist in the coordination of the effective management of risk across Council to foster the development of a culture where risks and opportunities are proactively identified, assessed, reviewed and controlled in all areas
- To oversee the implementation and compliance of Council risk strategy, policies and procedures, supporting risk management work plans to ensure business continuity.
- Ensure that the department complies with all statutory and legislative requirements by adhering to these requirements and working in accordance with good governance and health and safety requirements.
- To assist Audit Risk and Governance Manager with risk and Corporate Governance work across the Council.
- Ensure that all responsibilities are carried out in a timely and effective manner and that confidentiality is maintained in all areas relating to the work of the Council.

Essential Criteria :
- A degree or equivalent level qualification in a relevant discipline, eg risk management, finance, accounting, insurance, business or administration.
AND
- Be able to demonstrate, by providing personal and specific examples on the application form, two years' relevant experience to include the following:
- Practical experience of applying risk management principles to include conducting risk management audits, risk assessments and monitoring and reviewing risk registers.
- Implementing and reviewing business risk management processes (strategic, business and operational).
- Having experience of governance related matters.
- Providing support and advice to internal departments/key stakeholders.
- A clear knowledge of the workings of local government and the wider environment in which it operates.
- A sound knowledge of the legislative framework governing the work of the Council, including corporate governance principles.
- A full current driving licence (Category B, valid in the UK) and access to a vehicle that will enable the post holder to meet the requirements of the post OR have access to a form of transport that enables you to carry out the duties of the post.
