Job description

To plan, organise and control daily production schedules to ensure goods are produced efficiently, on time, within budget and to customer standards

  • Responsibility for the day to day operations of the production department.
  • Develop efficiency procedures to ensure effective use of materials, machines and manpower to produce quality products on time and within budget.
  • Use Continuous Improvement methodologies and encourage this attitude to working practices to drive improvements in productivity and quality.
  • Achieve KPI targets on productivity, waste, quality and cost.
  • Strict time/temperature controls in place to reduce forms of abuse or mishandling of product.
  • Lead, motivate, develop and performance manage the production department.
  • Implement job rotation and delegation
  • Ensure all available resources are utilised with maximum efficiency - documented rota system produced at least 1-2 weeks in advance.
  • Plan Temporary manning levels to meet production schedules.
  • Ensure a "clean as you go" policy is adopted and oversee the production area is kept clean and in line with this policy.
  • Sign off on cleaning check sheet
  • Communicate effectively with all departments to resolve any issues which may impact on production. e.g. time requirements for deliveries, unexpected downtime, production finish time etc.
  • Weekly/daily team meetings to update on changes business changes and key information relating to packing performance.
  • Monitor packing statistics and manage performance daily to achieve optimum target.
  • Ensure all production equipment is properly maintained and serviced.
  • Encourage team to report damages, faults or problems with equipment.
  • Develop team capabilities through identifying training needs and build skills matrix.
  • Responsible for ensuring all H & S issues are raised and dealt with appropriately, all accidents/near missus reported to senior management and logged in accordance with UK Safety laws.
  • At least 3 years' experience working within a food manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Experience managing a team or factory floor
  • Computer Literate
  • Good people management skills
