Job Title: Porter

Location: Causeway Hospital
Hours: Minimum 20 hours per week, with the possibility to increase up to 37.5 hours per week.

Note: Candidates must be able to work weekends and occasional night shifts.

Salary: from £12.21 - £22.34

Job Purpose:

To provide a professional and efficient portering service, ensuring the safe movement of patients, equipment, stores, and materials throughout the site while maintaining high standards of hygiene, safety, and customer care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Transport patients safely and comfortably between wards, departments, and other areas.

• Deliver and collect mail, parcels, medical records, and equipment as required.

• Move furniture, supplies, and clinical materials around the premises.

• Assist in maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in designated areas.

• Handle waste and linen according to infection control procedures.

• Support clinical and non-clinical staff as needed in emergency or urgent situations.

• Follow manual handling and health & safety procedures at all times.

• Report any faults, damages, or safety hazards to the supervisor.

• Provide a friendly and professional service to patients, staff, and visitors.

Skills and Requirements:

• Good communication and teamwork skills.

• Physically fit and able to perform manual handling tasks.

• Reliable, punctual, and able to work under pressure.

• Basic literacy and numeracy skills.

• Previous experience in a healthcare or facilities environment (preferred but not essential).

• Understanding of confidentiality and patient dignity.
