Job Title: Director of Nursing (Band 2) - Older Persons' Services - Community Support Team

Location: Tipperary, Clare, Limerick

Employment Type: Full-Time, Specific Purpose Contract (1 Year)

Salary: €80,903 - €94,590 (Pro Rata)

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Nursing to lead the Older Persons' Services - Community Support Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality clinical care, managing the vaccination program, and ensuring compliance with clinical governance standards across the counties of Tipperary, Clare, and Limerick.

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with strong leadership abilities and a passion for nursing to contribute to the healthcare needs of older persons within the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Governance: Lead and manage the clinical governance framework within the service, ensuring the highest standards of care delivery.
  • Vaccination Program: Oversee the management and delivery of the vaccination program, ensuring efficient administration, staff training, and monitoring of processes.
  • Leadership & Management: Provide leadership to the nursing team, including managing staff, conducting performance evaluations, and ensuring appropriate staffing levels.
  • Policy & Guidelines: Develop and implement policies and guidelines to ensure best practices are followed across the service.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including medical staff and management, to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Compliance & Reporting: Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, quality standards, and health & safety protocols. Lead audits and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Training & Development: Provide guidance and support to nursing staff, promoting ongoing professional development and maintaining a culture of learning.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with current licensure.
  • Post-registration experience in nursing, preferably in leadership or management roles within a healthcare setting.
  • Experience in vaccine management and delivering vaccination programs.
  • Proven ability in clinical governance and overseeing clinical operations.
  • Line management experience with the ability to lead, mentor, and manage a team.
  • Experience in developing policies and guidelines for clinical services and care delivery.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound clinical decisions.
  • Knowledge of infection control standards and adherence to HIQA (Health Information and Quality Authority) standards.

Desired Skills:

  • Master's degree in Nursing or Healthcare Management is desirable.
  • Experience with elderly care and older persons' services is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with healthcare regulations and quality control in clinical environments.
