Overview

We are seeking an experienced Credit Control Manager to lead a small team of Credit Controllers within a well-established company. Reporting to the Financial Controller and Directors, you will take overall responsibility for managing the credit control function, ensuring effective control of the company's debtor accounts and compliance with credit policies and procedures.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and support a team of Credit Controllers, promoting a strong team culture and high performance.

  • Oversee the credit control function and portfolio of debtor accounts, ensuring company credit policies, payment terms, and credit checks are followed.

  • Prepare and analyse debt reports, identifying risks, variances, and recommending actions to reduce overdue debt.

  • Produce monthly cashflow forecasts and monitor performance against targets.

  • Maintain accurate records of credit applications, payments, and bad debts, and provide regular reports and analysis.

  • Manage bad debt collection processes, including small claims, insurance matters, and formal correspondence.

  • Work closely with the Sales Director to manage problematic or high-risk accounts.

  • Handle escalated billing disputes, complaints, and discrepancies in a timely and professional manner.

  • Support the daily activities of the credit control function as required.

  • Build strong working relationships with other departments to encourage communication, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

  • Review and update the company's credit policy as needed.

  • Liaise with the HR department to ensure staffing needs are met and policies and procedures are followed.


Experience, Skills and Attributes

  • Strong knowledge of credit control processes within a business environment.

  • Previous managerial experience in a high-volume billing environment.

  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workloads effectively.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and people management skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

  • High attention to detail with good analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Confident user of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
