You'll be part of a dedicated team using a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) approach to deliver person-centred care, helping children and young people to thrive emotionally, socially and physically.
This is a hands-on role - where you'll support children with daily routines, personal care, and fun, engaging activities such as crafts, outdoor play, baking, music, walks, and community outings.
Key Responsibilities
Provide high-quality, person-centred care to children and young people with learning disabilities and complex needs.
Work collaboratively with colleagues, families and professionals to ensure each child's care plan is followed and regularly reviewed.
Support children in daily living skills and in participating in a range of educational, leisure and social activities.
Maintain accurate and confidential records in line with organisational and legislative requirements.
Ensure a safe, nurturing environment that promotes dignity, independence and inclusion.
Contribute to household duties, including light cooking and cleaning, to create a welcoming home atmosphere.
Participate in shift work including evenings, weekends, and occasional night duties.
About You
You're compassionate, patient and enjoy working as part of a close-knit team. You're flexible, dependable and ready to support children in living joyful, purposeful lives.
Essential Criteria:
Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in a care-related subject (e.g. Health & Social Care, Early Years).
At least 6 months' experience working with children or adults with learning disabilities and complex needs.
Good communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Commitment to confidentiality and professional conduct.
Flexibility to work on a rota basis including unsocial hours and weekends.
Eligible for registration (or already registered) with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC).
Desirable:
Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support and/or autism spectrum conditions.
Experience in residential, educational or health-care settings.
Degree-level qualification in a care-related discipline.
