Job Title: Boning Hall Supervisor
Location: Cullybackey
Reports To: Assistant Factory Manager
Department: Production - Boning Hall
Purpose of Role
The purpose of this role is to supervise the daily operations of the Boning Hall, supporting the Assistant Factory Manager to maximise productivity, reduce waste, and implement continuous improvement initiatives. The role is responsible for ensuring team leaders are trained, supported, and managed to maintain high performance and flexibility in a fast-paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate daily production activities in the Boning Hall.
Monitor team leader performance and ensure production goals are met safely and efficiently.
Ensure all equipment and tools are used correctly and safely; report and resolve any defects.
Champion boning and butchery processes to maintain product quality.
Provide yield reports and monitor results against targets.
Balance production lines and manage labour efficiently.
Ensure all pre-start checks and documentation are completed accurately.
Team Development & Performance Management
Train, coach, and support team leaders using a structured skills matrix.
Lead by example, promoting Cranswick's ethical standards and codes of conduct.
Conduct return-to-work interviews, absence management, and disciplinary processes.
Assign tasks clearly and provide regular feedback and direction.
Monitor and update training requirements based on legal and operational changes.
Continuous Improvement & Analysis
Analyse daily team performance using KPIs: Safety, Quality, Value, Innovation, and People.
Identify root causes of performance issues and implement improvement plans.
Encourage innovation and challenge current processes constructively.
Customer Focus & Brand Representation
Promote a customer-first culture across the team.
Act as a departmental ambassador during customer visits.
Ensure all staff are aligned with Cranswick's brand and customer standards.
Food Safety & Compliance
Maintain excellent hygiene and housekeeping practices.
Ensure team compliance with HACCP, technical specifications, CCPs, and COSHH regulations.
Adhere to all internal and external food safety standards.
Health & Safety Leadership
Promote a strong health and safety culture within the team.
Complete safety checks, risk assessments, and participate in safety tours.
Investigate accidents thoroughly and implement corrective actions.
Monitor staff behaviour and challenge unsafe practices appropriately.

Work Area Skills
Strong knowledge of boning hall processes and yield optimisation
Effective labour resource planning and line balancing
Excellent understanding of KPIs and department performance metrics
Skilled in identifying and solving operational problems
Confident in writing reports and analysing production data

Qualifications and Experience
2-3 years' experience as a Team Leader or Supervisor in a production environment
Level 3 Food Safety
Level 3 Health & Safety (IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent)
Accident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis training
Strong commercial awareness and reporting skills
Forklift and/or equipment certifications (desirable)
