Assistant Grounds Maintenance Operative

Our Client, A Large Public Sector Organisation based in Ballymoney/Coleraine require Assistant Grounds Maintenance Operatives to join their team.

Role : Assistant Grounds Maintenance Operative

Location : Ballymoney / Coleraine

Hours of Work : 37 hrs per week

Hourly Rate : 1 - 12 weeks £11.89 13 weeks + £12.18

Main Duties :

• Assist Grounds Maintenance staff with horticulture, gardening and general grounds maintenance works in Council facilities, public parks, sports grounds, cemeteries and similar open spaces, to the standards required.
• To present a courteous attitude at all times by assisting with the promotion of good working relationships between Council staff and members of the public. If and as required, deal with on-site complaints and queries or refer to your line manager as necessary.
• Ensure that the department complies with all statutory and legislative requirements by adhering to these requirements and working in accordance with good governance and health and safety requirements.
• Ensure that all responsibilities are carried out in a timely and effective manner and that general confidentiality is maintained in all areas relating to the work of the Council.

Essential Criteria :

• An NVQ Level 2 in Amenity Horticulture or equivalent qualification.

OR

• A minimum of 12 months' grounds maintenance experience gained within a commercial environment to include the following:
• Grass cutting, horticultural and grounds maintenance experience, including the set-up, safe use and routine maintenance of a range of horticultural equipment / machinery to include ride on grounds machinery;
• General maintenance of outdoor areas e.g. parks
• Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and its application in the workplace to include working with a variety of plant and equipment.

• A full current driving licence (Category B+E valid in the UK).

Desirable Criteria :

• Lantra (or similar) approved training in Grounds Maintenance Equipment.
• Certified under NHSS Traffic Management Scheme.
• Hold a valid Health & safety CSR/CSCS card.
• Excavator and/or tractor driving qualification.
• Driving Licence (with Category C1+E).
