Job description

Account Executive

Staffline Ireland are recruiting for an Account Executive on behalf of a leading wholesaler in the decorating, hardware, homeware, and gardening markets. The Account Executive is responsible for managing and nurturing customer relationships, streamlining processes, and ensuring a seamless order-to-delivery experience. The Account Executive is crucial in supporting and driving EBITDA growth through revenue optimisation, cost efficiency, and process improvements.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for all customer enquiries, delivering outstanding service and ensuring swift resolution of issues.
  • Proactively and regularly engage with customers beyond issue resolution, offering support, updates, product solutions, and promotions to drive sales, working with the relevant Area Sales Manager to ensure a joined-up approach for the customer.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with customers, understanding their business needs and identifying growth opportunities.
  • Reduce customer churn by providing exceptional service, addressing concerns promptly, and escalating relationship issues when necessary.
  • Monitor the market, track competition, and contribute to creating a competitive edge through superior customer service.
  • Ensure all orders are processed accurately and dispatched on time, minimising invoicing errors and reducing customer complaints.
  • Monitor shared email mailboxes and incoming calls to ensure customer queries are addressed promptly and politely.
  • Maintain up to date and accurate customer records in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system and ensure all sales orders and quotations are recorded correctly using Sage software.
  • Process and share quotations with customers and follow up to support sales completion.
  • Identify inefficiencies in order processing and internal workflows, recommending improvements to enhance accuracy and speed, leveraging technology to streamline processes and improve customer interactions where possible.
  • Identify and capitalise on upselling and cross-selling opportunities, promoting bulk offers, full-box quantities, and active promotions.
  • Ensure assigned accounts meet or exceed sales targets by actively engaging customers, presenting new opportunities, and optimising their purchasing strategy.
  • Suggest alternative products when supplier availability is limited, preventing backorders and maintaining customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor and report on customer order patterns, complaints, and feedback, providing insights for business improvements.
  • Drive EBITDA growth by increasing revenue from existing accounts while ensuring cost-efficient order fulfilment.

Person Specification:

  • Educated to GCSE level in relevant fields (i.e. English, Maths, Business, etc.) or an equivalent amount of business experience.
  • Good levels of literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Proven experience in an Account Management, Sales Support or Customer Service role.
  • Strong knowledge of order processing, CRM systems, and sales administration.
  • Experience using customer service software such as Sage, Salesforce, or similar platforms.
  • Good understanding of business-to-business (B2B) sales and customer relationship management principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, Teams) for reporting and communication.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to engage with a variety of audiences (e.g. team, customers, suppliers) and demonstrate passion for the topic of your conversation.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Proven successful experience of at least 2 years in an Account Management, Sales Support or Customer Service role.
  • Specific Customer Service Qualification
  • Experience in a similar industry, such as distribution, logistics, or manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of process automation tools.
  • Training in customer service excellence or sales techniques.
  • Professional membership in a relevant industry body (e.g., Institute of Customer Service).
