The Capital Project Coordinator will assist in the development of initial concepts, project briefs, of requirements and designs of Garda premises in close collaboration with Office of Public Works (OPW) design teams, providing technical input, and feedback on proposed designs and security considerations.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist and report to the Capital Project Manager in the development of initial concepts, briefs of requirements and designs during early Capital project stages.
  • Coordinate initial feasibility studies, site assessments and technical surveys in collaboration with the Capital Project Manager and the OPW.
  • Assist in developing proposals for long-term Master Plans of large Garda Campuses, including Garda Headquarters Phoenix Park, Garda Training College and other projects under An Garda Síochána' Estates Capital Programme.
  • Review building designs with consideration of compliance with operational/security requirements and building regulations, escalating concerns and observations as appropriate.
  • Assist in the delivery of individual projects, identifying opportunities to improve designs by considering best practice, how to support An Garda Síochána operations, improve health & safety, security, quality, reduce defects and provide best value for money, compliant solutions.
  • Act as Project Coordinator and first point of contact for stakeholders, including OPW and DoJ during project lifecycles.
  • Uphold a coordinating role in establishing the needs of An Garda Síochána colleagues and displaying the necessary drive and commitment to deliver projects to meet strategic and operational objectives.
  • Maintain good relationships as part of advising, monitoring and reviewing project inputs from various stakeholders during all stages of project lifecycles.
  • Ensure records are maintained in a clear, systematic and auditable manner.
  • Carry out general organisational functions including establishing meeting schedules, attending and recording a variety of meetings, setting up, managing and maintaining document information, control systems, etc.
  • Manage a number of direct reports.
  • Travel to other parts of the country to attend site visits, stakeholder meetings, etc.

Essential Criteria:

Candidates, by the closing date, must:


Hold a qualification at the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) Level 6 or greater in a relevant discipline (e.g., Architecture, Quantity Surveying, Business Management, Engineering, Property, Financial Management).
OR
Have a minimum of 2 years' experience in assisting the delivery of building projects (e.g. procurement, design, technical, financial or construction management)

Candidates must also have:

  • Professional working experience assisting the management of multiple projects, prioritising tasks, working with schedules and tight deadlines.
  • Proficient IT skills including. Microsoft Office Suite (including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams).
