Building Control Surveyor

The Client: Local Public body based in Lisburn, serving local residents.
Key Responsibilities:
To participate in the provision of an efficient, effective, economic and equitable Building Control Service and to assess plans and fees and inspect building work to ensure compliance with Building Regulations. To provide other technical expertise and services and participate in business development projects and contribute to the continuous improvement of the Building Control Service via quality initiatives, innovation projects, joint stakeholder and partnership initiatives and performance management application.
The post holder may undertake other appropriate duties reasonably assigned by the Building Control Manager, including cover for sickness, leave or staff vacancies.
Hours of work: 23.5 hours per week - 3 Days in the week
Requirements:
- A relevant building relation third level qualification (for example, NVQ Level 4, a degree, or equivalent) or Corporate Membership of an appropriate building related professional institute, or equivalent.
- Two years' employment experience in all of the following areas;
- Building Construction and current building techniques
- Practical application of the Building Regulations
- Interpreting working drawings and specifications in accordance with Building Regulations
Where applicants do not hold the qualifications as outlined in 1.1, they must demonstrate a minimum of four years' experience as outlined in 1.2.
- - It is essential that applicants hold a full (i.e. not provisional) and current UK driving licence and access to a car or * have access to a means of transport which would enable the applicant to carry out the duties of the post. *

- The ability to compile and keep accurate records, reports, Diagrams and drawings.
- Competent in the use of Word, Excel, Outlook etc.
Rate of Pay: £21.30 per hour
