Staffline Ireland are delighted to recruit on behalf of our Kilkeel based client for an Assistant Operations Manager on Nightshift.

As Assistant Operations Manager you will support the Operations Manager in running all night-shift production activities. The role ensures safety, quality, and efficiency targets are consistently achieved while driving continuous improvement across the site. You will play a key role in building a positive, high-performing team culture where employees feel valued, engaged, and motivated.

Hours:

Nights: 3.30pm to 2.15am Mon to Thurs

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop Area Team Leaders and their teams
  • Build a multi-skilled and motivated workforce
  • Conduct performance reviews and manage absence and conduct issues

Health & Safety

  • Ensure all operations comply with company policies and legal requirements
  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across the night shift

Product Quality

  • Take ownership of product quality with a strong customer focus
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and quality systems
  • Drive a "right first time" production approach

Performance & Data

  • Monitor and analyse production data (efficiency, labour, waste, downtime, energy usage)
  • Use data-driven decision-making to meet and improve production targets

Continuous Improvement

  • Support Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maintain high standards of organisation, efficiency, and process control

Daily Operations

  • Oversee night-shift operations and ensure production plans are achieved
  • Communicate progress, priorities, and issues effectively to stakeholders
  • Make timely decisions to resolve operational challenges

Culture & Communication

  • Promote a proactive, accountable, and motivated team culture
  • Encourage clear, open communication across teams and shifts
  • Foster collaboration and teamwork throughout the site

Supporting Site Activities

  • Support audits, trials, projects, and customer visits
  • Help maintain site standards and compliance at all times

Skills and Requirements

Essential

  • Proven leadership experience delivering operational results
  • Strong communication skills and ability to manage change effectively

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Commercial and financial awareness
  • Experience working cross-functionally with different teams

Knowledge

  • Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles

  • Health & safety, employment law, quality, and hygiene standards
