Freight & Logistics Coordinator
Location: Dundalk, Co. Louth (or adjust as needed)
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: €30,000 - €40,000 (depending on experience)
We are a leading global manufacturer of automation and process control equipment for the plastics industry, supplying innovative solutions to blue-chip customers worldwide. Due to continued growth, we are seeking a Freight & Logistics Coordinator to join our team and support our expanding global operations.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated logistics professional to work in a fast-paced, international environment, managing freight operations and ensuring efficient and cost-effective shipment of products across global markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage inbound and outbound freight bookings for products, spare parts, and purchased items
- Obtain freight quotations, negotiate competitive rates, and liaise with freight forwarders and carriers
- Coordinate shipments in line with customer and production requirements
- Maintain strong relationships with logistics suppliers and service providers
- Prepare and manage all dispatch, shipping, export, and customs documentation
- Ensure customs compliance and handle related queries
- Optimise packing solutions to ensure safe shipment and cost efficiency
- Work with packaging suppliers to improve packing methods and materials
- Maintain freight and logistics data for reporting and analysis
- Support procurement and purchasing activities where required
Candidate Profile
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines
- Good commercial awareness and negotiation skills
- Knowledge of shipping, export, and customs documentation
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in paperwork and data
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Proactive problem-solver with a practical, can-do attitude
- Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word
- Packing or logistics knowledge is an advantage
Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum 2+ years' experience in freight, logistics, shipping, or a similar coordination role
- Experience with freight providers, export documentation, and customs processes preferred
- Qualification in logistics, supply chain, business, or related discipline is an advantage
