Freight & Logistics Coordinator

Location: Dundalk, Co. Louth (or adjust as needed)
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: €30,000 - €40,000 (depending on experience)

We are a leading global manufacturer of automation and process control equipment for the plastics industry, supplying innovative solutions to blue-chip customers worldwide. Due to continued growth, we are seeking a Freight & Logistics Coordinator to join our team and support our expanding global operations.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated logistics professional to work in a fast-paced, international environment, managing freight operations and ensuring efficient and cost-effective shipment of products across global markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage inbound and outbound freight bookings for products, spare parts, and purchased items
  • Obtain freight quotations, negotiate competitive rates, and liaise with freight forwarders and carriers
  • Coordinate shipments in line with customer and production requirements
  • Maintain strong relationships with logistics suppliers and service providers
  • Prepare and manage all dispatch, shipping, export, and customs documentation
  • Ensure customs compliance and handle related queries
  • Optimise packing solutions to ensure safe shipment and cost efficiency
  • Work with packaging suppliers to improve packing methods and materials
  • Maintain freight and logistics data for reporting and analysis
  • Support procurement and purchasing activities where required

Candidate Profile

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines
  • Good commercial awareness and negotiation skills
  • Knowledge of shipping, export, and customs documentation
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in paperwork and data
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Proactive problem-solver with a practical, can-do attitude
  • Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word
  • Packing or logistics knowledge is an advantage

Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum 2+ years' experience in freight, logistics, shipping, or a similar coordination role
  • Experience with freight providers, export documentation, and customs processes preferred
  • Qualification in logistics, supply chain, business, or related discipline is an advantage
