Transport Planner

Are you an organised and detail-oriented logistics professional with experience in transport coordination? Our client is seeking a proactive Transport Planner to ensure efficient route planning, fleet utilisation, and on-time delivery across Ireland. This is a full-time, permanent position operating between Annacotty (Limerick) and Borrisoleigh (Tipperary), and flexibility to attend both offices is required.

About the Role

As a Transport Planner, you will play a key role in coordinating daily transport operations, ensuring cost-effective route planning and optimal fleet performance. Working closely with drivers, warehouse teams, and customers, you will manage schedules, monitor deliveries, and respond proactively to operational challenges to maintain high service levels.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and optimise daily and weekly transport routes to ensure timely and cost-effective deliveries;
• Coordinate fleet scheduling, driver assignments, and vehicle availability;
• Monitor delivery progress and address delays or issues in real time;
• Liaise with customers regarding schedules, updates, and service requirements;
• Ensure compliance with transport legislation, driver hours, and tachograph regulations;
• Maintain accurate transport records and performance reports;
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.

Requirements

• Previous experience in transport planning or logistics coordination;
• Strong geographical knowledge of Irish road networks;
• Understanding of driver hours legislation and transport compliance requirements;
• Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills;
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with drivers and customers;
• Proficiency in transport management systems and Microsoft Office;
• Flexibility to work between Annacotty and Borrisoleigh offices.
