Early Years Developmental Programme Practitioner (Part-Time)

Location: Newtonabbey
Hours: Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday, 9:15am - 1:15pm
Contract: Temporary - Start ASAP until end of March
Posts Available: 2

We are seeking two motivated and caring Early Years Developmental Programme Practitioners to support the delivery of a high-quality developmental programme for children aged 2-3 years in the Newtonabbey area.

Working alongside the Programme Supervisor, the successful candidates will contribute to a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment that supports children's social, emotional, communication, and imaginative development through structured and constructive play.


Key Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain a safe, welcoming, and engaging play environment

  • Plan and deliver age-appropriate activities that support children's developmental needs

  • Encourage positive parental engagement during play sessions

  • Prepare, set up, and clean play areas before and after sessions

  • Act as a keyworker, including recording observations

  • Adhere to child protection, health and safety, confidentiality, and equal opportunities policies

  • Participate in team planning, training, supervision, and appraisal processes

  • Work flexibly to meet the needs of the service and carry out duties appropriate to the role


Essential Criteria

  • QCF Level 3 in Childcare (or equivalent)

  • Minimum 12 months' experience in an Early Years setting (preferably with children aged 0-4)

  • Knowledge of child development and the importance of play

  • Understanding of child protection, health and safety, confidentiality, and equal opportunities

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
