Cleansing Driver C1

Carn / Banbridge

Rate of Pay: £14.12 per hour

The Client: Local Government body, serving residents across the borough.

The Role:

The postholder will drive allocated cleansing vehicles up to 7.5 tons and carry out priority waste collection duties and street cleaning duties. The role will involve acting as Team Leader of allocated staff.

Hours of work: 37 hours per week

Requirements:

  • Drive and be responsible for a street cleansing vehicle or priority waste collection vehicle/equipment and any authorised passengers.
  • Observe all vehicle's servicing instructions issued and complete all associated duties including changing and adjusting brushes, vehicle cleaning, adjusting water jets, greasing as required. In the event of a breakdown, notify the Supervisor and/or Garage personnel immediately.
  • Complete daily record sheets in relation to mileage, fuel, defects etc., and return to appropriate Supervisor daily.
  • Prioritise work for the team on a daily basis.
  • Complete relevant paperwork relating to routine tasks.
  • Collect information to assist with flytipping prosecutions.
  • Responsible for the daily route and ensure that, where practicable, all litter on the route is collected, including emptying of litter bins, dog waste bins and manual sweeps where required.
  • Safely collect/load priority waste, and transport to the designated transfer/disposal site
  • Safely carry out priority cleansing as identified such as, street cleansing, street washing, street furniture washing, spillage removal, flytipping and gum removal.
  • Identify, separate/isolate and safely dispose of contaminated materials and dead animals as required.

Essential Requirements

  • Valid DVTA Driver Qualification Card;
  • Valid Digital Tachograph Card.

  • Six months' experience of operating and adjusting specialist vehicles or mobile plant machinery.
