Make Ready Support Worker/Ambulance Cleaner - Band 3
Location: Ballymena
Hours: 30 hours per week. All candidates must be fully flexible, as weekend work may be required.
We are currently recruiting Make Ready Support Workers to join our Environmental & Vehicle Cleanliness team. This is a vital operational role ensuring ambulances, equipment and consumables are fully prepared and immediately ready for frontline service.
Role Summary
The post holder will be responsible for the effective cleaning, decontamination, restocking and safety checking of ambulances and on-board equipment to agreed standards. This role plays a key part in maintaining patient and staff safety and may involve shift work, nights, weekends and public holidays as part of a 24/7 service.
Key Responsibilities
Cleaning, decontaminating and restocking ambulances and equipment
Carrying out vehicle daily inspection (VDI) and basic road-worthiness checks
Ensuring high standards of infection prevention and control
Checking and maintaining medical and non-medical equipment
Driving/moving vehicles between locations as required
Maintaining accurate records and reporting defects
Safe disposal of waste and sharps in line with policy
Working closely with Supervisors, Station Officers and ambulance crews
Adhering to Health & Safety, COSHH and Manual Handling regulations
Essential Criteria
Qualifications / Experience (one of the following):
3 GCSEs (or equivalent) including English Language and 1 year's experience in a service/support role
ORRelevant Level 2 qualification (NVQ/QCF/RQF) and 1 year's experience in a service/support role
ORA minimum of 3 years' experience working in a service/support role
Other Requirements:
Hold a Category C1 driving licence (or evidence of attainment before start date)
Willingness to work shifts including evenings, weekends and public holidays
Flexibility to work across different locations to meet service needs
Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions
Ability to organise and prioritise workload and remain calm under pressure
Understanding of confidentiality in the workplace
