The Client: Local Government body based in Castlewellan, serving local residents.

The Role:

The post holder will be required to work in all weather conditions, to supervise the daily operation of basic grade gardeners within the Parks Department. The postholder will act as a working team leader for a small unit whose responsibilities include the maintenance of the full range of the Council's parks, garden's and open spaces.

Responsibilities

• Control of all equipment allocated to the squad and proving detailed reports of any items damaged, lost etc.
• Ensure proper use of equipment allocated to their team.
• Assist in the preparation of timesheets, documentation and other administrative duties as required by Line Manager.
• On site supervision and direction of team in relation to work activity and control of equipment to ensure compliance with all regulations to Health and Safety at Work and ensuring that good working practices are maintained.
• Report to the relevant Officer all alleged accidents/incidents at work or any breach of disciplinary or grievance within their team.
• Ensure that the standard of work is maintained to a satisfactory level.
• Team Leader to be responsible for ensuring high standard of conduct and adherence to Council procedures.
• Lead the skilled horticultural/arboricultural/fine turf/play area operations in either mobile or static squad.

Hours of work: 36 hrs per week

Requirements:

• C1E Licence is required for this role
• NVQ Level 1 Horticulture AND a minimum of 1 years relevant experience to include the use of commercial grounds maintenance machinery. Examples: Strimmer's, walk behind or ride on mowers, leaf blowers, hedge cutters and other hand tools

OR

• In lieu of qualification, a minimum of 2 years relevant experience to include the use of commercial grounds maintenance machinery. Examples: Strimmer's, walk behind or ride on mowers, leaf blowers, hedge cutters and other hand tools
