London, Friday 16 January 2026 – The City of London Corporation bestowed the Freedom of the City of London on Belfast-born business leader, Tina McKenzie MBE, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to economic development, employment and public service.
Tina McKenzie MBE has forged a remarkable career as a business leader and advocate for economic opportunity, with her influence extending well beyond commercial business success. As National Chair for Policy & Advocacy for the Federation of Small Businesses (UK), a visiting professor at Ulster University, Board Member of The Ireland Funds and Honorary Consul for Finland, Tina has championed small businesses, supported the third sector, demonstrated skilled and measured diplomacy and shaped vital policy during pivotal moments including Brexit, pandemic recovery and the cost-of-living crisis.
A longstanding champion of women’s entrepreneurship, Tina has played a significant role in mentoring and supporting female business leaders. From representing Europe as Chair of Women’s Entrepreneurship Day to her ongoing work with Women in Business at a local level, she consistently promotes inclusive enterprise and leadership as drivers of economic growth.
Alongside her advocacy achievements, Tina founded Staffline Recruitment Ireland from a start-up in 2013, growing the organisation into one of Ireland’s most dynamic recruitment and workforce solutions’ firms, with offices in every major city across the island - strengthening access to opportunity throughout the economy.
Alderman Prem Goyal CBE, commenting on the award, said:
“Tina McKenzie’s career exemplifies service before self. Her leadership has transformed organisations, supported many thousands into meaningful work and brought business voices into crucial national policy debates. The Freedom of the City of London celebrates her impact on the economy and on the lives of so many people across the UK and Ireland.”
Tina McKenzie MBE added:
“I am deeply honoured to receive the Freedom of the City of London. My work has always been about service: to the economy and to people striving for their best futures. This recognition reflects the shared hard work of colleagues, clients and all of those striving for opportunity through employment - the true engine of our economy.”
The Freedom of the City of London stands among a series of national and international honours, including an MBE for Services to the Northern Ireland Economy and recognition by Politico as one of the most influential figures in UK politics, reflecting Tina McKenzie’s enduring contribution to business, public life and the wider economy.
