YARD OPERATIVE required for our client based in Ballymena.

This role is for 24hrs per weeks (Mon-Frid) hours flexible

Job Summary:

As Yards Person you will be responsible for ensuring the yard and stores are kept clean and tidy. You will liaise with on-site teams and lorry drivers to ensure a high standard of housekeeping is maintained. You will receive deliveries, ensure stock levels are kept up to date and stored accurately.

You will report to the Plant & Procurement manager, supporting them with fleet and equipment maintenance both going out and returning from site.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

The following list outlines the key tasks and duties of your role:

  • Manage and organise the yard and stores, ensuring all areas are kept clean and tidy at all times.
  • Take receipt of deliveries to the yard, assisting with the resolution of delivery and collection issues promptly.
  • Assist with loading and unloading supplies to/from lorries.
  • Ensure supplies are stored correctly and carry out regular stock takes to ensure levels are accounted for and sufficiently maintained.
  • Ensure good housekeeping rules are adhered to by the wider team.
  • Manage the return of equipment from site, ensure any required maintenance is completed before returning to stock.
  • Provide a reactive response to breakdowns and damage repairs to limit lost time on site.
  • Assist with fleet and equipment maintenance; check the status of maintenance and repair work.
  • Deliver/collect goods as required using company vehicles.
  • Ensure plant and purchasing records are kept up to date.

Essential Criteria:

Full Clean Driving Licence

Previous experience working in construction.

Knowledge of construction terminology, working practices, plant and heavy machinery.

Ability to work unsupervised, and as part of a team.

Ability to take direction.

Good time management and organisational skills

Good communication skills

Great work ethic & attitude.
