Job title: Waste & Recycling Assistant

19.5 h a week Mon-Sat

£13.69 per hour

Given the nature of their duties, the post holder may be expected to work outside of these hours at weekends, evenings and public holidays as dictated by the needs of the service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Advise and assist the public on proper waste disposal and recycling procedures.

• Support users with segregation of recyclables, re-use, hazardous, and other waste.

• Monitor site activity, enforce access rules, and prevent unauthorized removal of materials.

• Open, close, and operate the Household Recycling Centre as required.

• Maintain cleanliness of the site, buildings, footpaths, and car parks.

• Ensure operational procedures, records, and documentation are completed accurately.

• Assist contractors with servicing recycling facilities.

• Support Recycling Officer with educational and awareness activities.

• Manage traffic flow and the use of skips/containers to maintain smooth site operations.

• Record waste tonnage and maintain waste transfer documentation.

• Participate in recycling initiatives and ensure compliance with health, safety, and site licence regulations.

Essential Criterias

Applicants must be able to demonstrate, by providing personal and specific examples, that they have 1 year's relevant experience to include:-

• Working in a waste operations environment
• Working within a team environment
• Working within a customer service environment dealing with complaints and queries from the general public.
