Violence Reduction Officer (Band 6)
Location: Knockbracken, Belfast
Salary: £19.10 p/h
Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week / Monday - Friday
Duration: Temporary ongoing
The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) is seeking a Violence Reduction Officer / Case Manager to provide specialist advice and lead efforts to prevent and reduce violence and aggression across the Trust. This is a key role supporting staff safety, managing serious incidents, and working with external partners to ensure effective case management and prosecutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and review violence prevention and reduction policies and procedures.
- Lead on case management of violent and aggressive incidents, liaising with PSNI, HSENI, PPS, NI Courts and other partners.
- Carry out risk assessments, audits, and ensure appropriate data collection and monitoring.
- Support staff through peer networks and provide advice on security measures.
- Collaborate with senior management, legal services, and communications teams on prevention initiatives.
- Contribute to training, awareness campaigns, and policy development.
Essential Criteria
- A relevant degree plus postgraduate/professional qualification in crime prevention, health & safety, or related area.
- At least 3 years' experience in investigative, violence prevention, or case management work.
- Proven experience of incident reporting, risk assessments, audits, and policy development.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (unless exempt).
- Strong communication, organisational, and case management skills.
Desirable
- Accredited violence & aggression training qualification (e.g. MAPA, GSA, CRT).
- Experience with legal processes, CCTV, GDPR, or violence case management systems.
