Accommodation and Community Support Worker

Location: Downpatrick (with potential requirement to work at other sites as needed)
Salary: £22,675 - £24,108 per annum
Hours: Full time, Permanent

About the Role

An opportunity has arisen for an Accommodation and Community Support Worker to join our team, providing 24-hour support to individuals accessing our homelessness services. This role is crucial in supporting service users to develop independent living skills, access appropriate resources, and work towards achieving long-term stability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to service users, helping them to build independent living skills.
  • Conduct assessments, develop support plans, and monitor progress.
  • Advocate for service users, liaising with external agencies to ensure access to appropriate services.
  • Maintain professional boundaries while fostering positive relationships with service users.
  • Accurately update records in line with organisational and legal requirements.
  • Contribute to the safe and efficient running of accommodation facilities, including adherence to health and safety policies.

Essential Criteria:

  • Ability to demonstrate the organisation's core values: non-judgemental, trustworthy, and dedicated.
  • Competence in using IT systems for email, internet, and electronic records.
  • Willingness to register with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC) and undergo Access NI checks (registration must commence before employment).

Desirable Criteria:

  • At least six months' recent experience (paid or voluntary) supporting individuals with complex needs in a residential or community setting.
  • Experience in homelessness prevention, mental health support, substance misuse, offending services, or working with young people.
  • Experience in identifying and addressing individual support needs and risks.
  • A degree in Social Work or currently studying towards one.
