STAFF NURSE

€35068 - €52790 (1/10/23 PSPP Consolidated scales). Pro-rata if working part-time hours

Permanent - Full time & Part time

Innishannon Co. Cork

THE ROLE!!!

The person appointed to the post should be flexible in their approach to service provision and should have the ability to work as a member of a team. He/she will be required to take an active part in ensuring that the day to day operations of the programme reflect the ethos and vision of the Organisation and that the needs of the people supported are being met by all co-workers therein.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Organizing, supervising, and managing the assigned area effectively.
  • Creating a homely environment for individuals supported to integrate into community life.
  • Developing residents' self-care and self-help skills, including personal hygiene, health, and financial management.
  • Encouraging participation in daily activities and prudent management of personal finances.
  • Ensuring meticulous accounting of all monies and adherence to financial guidelines.
  • Facilitating social participation and engagement in local activities.
  • Supporting social skill development and community engagement.
  • Contributing to person-centered planning and goal achievement.
  • Developing and maintaining health care management plans.
  • Promoting individuality and hobbies in residents' lifestyles.
  • Participating in multidisciplinary meetings.
  • Supporting behavior management plans for challenging behaviors.
  • Providing end-of-life care when necessary.
  • Establishing and maintaining harmonious relationships with families, visitors, and professionals.
  • Addressing spiritual needs of supported individuals.
  • Ensuring attendance at appropriate day services.
  • Managing requisition and use of supplies economically.
  • Preparing and serving meals, including packed lunches.
  • Assisting with personal laundry.
  • Managing household and bed linen laundering.
  • Participating in training and activation programs.
  • Maintaining accurate records and reports.
  • Administering medication according to policies and regulations.
  • Reporting concerns promptly to the Line Manager.
  • Ensuring service delivery meets regulatory standards.
  • Performing child protection and adult safeguarding duties.
  • Undertaking additional duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to evolving service needs.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Have a nursing qualification (preferably Registered Intellectual Disability - RNID) & registration with Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland - (NMBI) - An Bórd Altranais
  • Demonstrate initiative, good interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Possess a good knowledge of supporting people with an Intellectual Disability/ Autism
  • It is highly desirable that applicants would have experience working with and supporting people with an Intellectual Disability / Autism / Vulnerable adults
  • Drivers Licence: Possess a full clean Driver's licence which qualifies you to drive manual transmission vehicles on Irish roads

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Proficiency in supporting individuals with Intellectual Disabilities/Autism.
  • Experience with healthcare needs like epilepsy, peg feeding, etc.
  • Desirable experience includes supporting vulnerable adults and managing challenging behaviors.
  • Familiarity with medication auditing and HIQA regulations.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of intellectual disability/autism issues and family dynamics.
  • Ability to write professional reports and maintain clinical records.
  • Knowledge of positive behavior support and alternative communication systems.
  • Interest in pursuing further relevant studies and awareness of aged care issues.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Accountability, flexibility, and adaptability to change.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and upholding the rights of individuals with disabilities.
  • Alignment with the organisations ethos, emphasizing dignity, inclusion, and community integration.
  • Optimistic, enthusiastic, and observant demeanor.
  • Respectful of confidentiality and approachable personality.
