The Client: Local Public organisation, serving local residents.
Rate of Pay: £16.37 per hour
The Role:
As a member of the Plant Maintenance Team the post holder will be required to support the Plant Manager to ensure the efficient operation and control of the mechanical and electrical services, together with the maintenance of fabric, fixture and fitting at the Dundonald International Ice Bowl and outlying facilities.
Hours of work:
- 37hrs per week
Key Duties
- Carry out the planned maintenance programme and reactive maintenance activities as required, including carrying out all relevant checks to ensure all systems are in good working order and operating satisfactorily and keeping associated records.
- Service and maintain all relevant areas including the ice rink/plant, bowling and Indianaland. Carry out routine service, calibration, fault diagnosis and repairs and daily safety checks.
- Monitor and maintain plumbing, electrical and ventilation systems within the complex. Carry out relevant safety checks including, but not limited to, Legionella management, Brine tests and Ammonia readings, ensuring records are kept up to date.
- Implement the requirements of planned maintenance programme, in the key areas of chiller plant, ventilation, electrical and mechanical systems.
- Assist in the monitoring of work and conduct of assistant plant engineers, all casual maintenance staff, contractors and others whilst in the complex and ensure that they comply with Health & Safety Regulations concerning safe working practises.
- The post holder should be aware that the responsibilities and functional areas of the post may be subject to change as a result of organisational change. The Council therefore reserves the right to change the duties of the post by adding to or amending the range of functional responsibilities. The post holder will be required to be flexible and adaptable to meet the changing needs and requirements of the organisation.
Requirements:
It is essential that applicants have a minimum of:
QUALIFICATIONS
1.1 - Completed a recognised registered apprenticeship in a mechanical or electrical engineering craft (NVQ Level 3, or equivalent)
EXPERIENCE
1.2 - A minimum of three years' post apprenticeship relevant experience in the maintenance of mechanical, electrical installations, plant and equipment.
1.3 - Experience of the maintenance and servicing of a minimum of two of the following, which should have been gained in a large plant environment:
- Air handling units and associated equipment
- Bowling alley installations
- Electrical installations
- Plumbing installation
- Chilled water installations
Where applicants do not hold the qualifications as outlined in 1.1 above, they must demonstrate a minimum of five years' experience as outlined in 1.2 and 1.3 above.
1.4 - It is essential that applicants hold a full (i.e. not provisional) and current UK driving licence and access to a car or * have access to a means of transport which would enable the applicant to carry out the duties of the post. *
