Job description

Staffline Recruitment Ireland is seeking a Mechanical Fitter to join a specialist engineering company. This is a permanent role based in Shannon, Co. Clare.

Responsibilities

The Mechanical Fitter will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and repair of precision machinery. Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintenance and repair of grinding machines, motors, pumps, and hydraulic systems;
  • Troubleshooting and resolving mechanical issues to minimise downtime;
  • Conducting preventative and corrective maintenance;
  • Supporting production teams by ensuring all machines are running efficiently;
  • Identifying opportunities to improve reliability, performance, and safety standards;
  • Liaising with supervisors and team members to prioritise workload and machine availability.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary between €45,000 - €50,000 (DOE);
  • Permanent position;
  • Standard working week: Monday-Thursday 8 am-4.30 pm, Friday 8 am-3.25 pm;

Criteria

  • Strong mechanical background with hands-on experience in machine maintenance, ideally gained within a precision engineering environment.
  • Knowledge of motors, pumps, and hydraulic repairs essential;
  • Previous experience working with grinding machines highly desirable;
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team;
  • Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and communication skills.
