Job Title: Investigator

Location: London (with some travel)
Salary: £176.92 daily rate (equivalent to £46,000 p.a.)
Contract Type: Temporary ongoing with permanent opportunities

Staffline is recruiting experienced, PIP2-qualified Investigators on behalf of a public sector client for a vital role supporting individuals and families affected by historical incidents involving serious harm or death. The work involves gathering information, reviewing evidence, and helping to address long-standing questions through an independent and trauma-informed investigative process.

This is a meaningful opportunity to contribute to public interest investigations conducted with integrity, fairness, and respect.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and deliver investigations into complex and sensitive incidents.
  • Review case files, assess evidence, and identify further lines of enquiry.
  • Conduct interviews, compile detailed reports, and contribute to case findings.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and external partners while maintaining a trauma-informed approach.
  • Ensure investigative work aligns with legal standards and internal procedures.

Essential Criteria:

  • PIP2 qualification or equivalent.
  • Significant experience conducting complex investigations.
  • Demonstrated experience to communicate clearly, confidently, and appropriately in both verbal and written formats.
  • Proven experience in managing sensitive material and competing priorities effectively.
  • Willingness to be assessed against the requirements for SC clearance, if not already cleared. Please find further information on NSV (National Security Vetting): National security vetting: clearance levels - GOV.UK.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge or experience of legacy or historical investigations, particularly in Northern Ireland.
