Job description

Our Client, A Large Public Sector Organisation require a Grounds Maintenance Skilled Operative to join their team.

Locations : Limavady

Hours of Work : 37 hrs per week Monday to Friday

Hourly Rate : 1--12 weeks £12.74 13 weeks £13.69

Main Duties :

  • Undertake horticulture, gardening and general grounds maintenance works in Council facilities, public parks, sports grounds and similar open spaces, to the standards required.
  • To present a courteous attitude at all times by assisting with the promotion of good working relationships between Council staff and members of the public. If and as required, deal with on-site complaints and queries or refer to your line manager as necessary.
  • Ensure that the department complies with all statutory and legislative requirements by adhering to these requirements and working in accordance with good governance and health and safety requirements.
  • Ensure that all responsibilities are carried out in a timely and effective manner and that general confidentiality is maintained in all areas relating to the work of the Council.

Essential Criteria:

  • An NVQ Level 2 in Amenity Horticulture or equivalent qualification.
  • PA1/PA6 Certificate in weed control spraying.
  • Lantra (or similar) approved training in Grounds Maintenance Equipment.
  • Certified under NHSS Traffic Management Scheme.
  • OR
  • A minimum of 12 months' experience in each of the following areas:
  • Grounds maintenance, grass cutting and horticulture within a commercial (non-domestic) environment Set-up, safe use and routine maintenance of a range of horticultural equipment / machinery to include ride on grounds machinery;
  • Use of construction plant such as excavators (rubber wheeled and/or tracked), tractors (50HP+ utility) and telescopic handlers
  • General maintenance of outdoor areas e.g. parks;
  • Cemetery duties

  • Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and its application in the workplace to include working with a variety of plant and equipment.
  • A full current driving licence (Category C1 valid in the UK).
