Job description
Our Client, A Large Public Sector Organisation based in Coleraine require a Building Control Technical Officer to join their team.
Location : Ballymoney / Coleraine
Hours of work : Monday to Friday - 37 hrs per week
Hourly Rate : 1-12 weeks £16.39 13 weeks + £18.26
Main Duties :
- To assist the Building Control team to fulfil the Council's statutory duties regarding the administration and enforcement of the Building Regulations and Allied Legislation in relation to Building Notices, Regularisations and Full Plan domestic works.
- To assist in the fulfilment of the Council's statutory duties including Street Naming and Postal Numbering, Energy Performance of Buildings legislation, Dangerous Structures and Dilapidations legislation and Property Certificates.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory and legislative requirements of the department and works in accordance with good governance and health and safety requirements.
- Ensure that all responsibilities are carried out in a timely and effective manner and that general confidentiality is maintained in all areas relating to the work of the Council.

Essential Criteria :
- A third level qualification eg BTEC Higher National Certificate, Higher National Diploma, NVQ Level 4 or equivalent in a building related discipline such as Construction and the Built Environment.
And
- A minimum of one year's relevant experience working in a building / construction related discipline.
Plus
- Experience in the use of Microsoft Office applications to include Word, Excel and Outlook
- Knowledge of the principles of building technology and current building techniques, their practical application and the ability to interpret working drawings and specifications.
- Knowledge of building regulations and other relevant building related legislation.
- Knowledge of the other assigned functions of Building Control such as Energy Performance of Buildings legislation, Dangerous and Dilapidations legislation and Address Management.
- An understanding and knowledge of applying record keeping standards.
- A full current driving licence (Category B, valid in the UK) and access to a vehicle that will enable the post holder to meet the requirements of the post OR have access to a form of transport that enables you to carry out the duties of the post.
