Location: Ardara, Co. Donegal
Shift: 12-hour shifts, 4-day week, including weekend working and rotation between day and night shifts
Salary: Hourly rate + overtime and Sunday premium, negotiable depending on experience

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Shift Maintenance Engineer to join a busy manufacturing environment in Ardara, Co. Donegal.

Working as part of the maintenance team, you will be responsible for keeping machinery and equipment operating safely and efficiently, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, and supporting continuous improvement across the site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance on electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Diagnose faults and use structured problem-solving techniques to minimise downtime.
  • Maintain machinery, facilities and production equipment to a high standard.
  • Support equipment installation, start-up, commissioning and troubleshooting.
  • Work closely with Production, Quality and external contractors to resolve engineering issues.
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, efficiency and performance.
  • Support continuous improvement projects and take ownership of engineering initiatives where required.
  • Assist with updating maintenance procedures and provide technical guidance or training to production teams when needed.
  • Complete maintenance records and documentation in line with site and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure all work is carried out safely and in accordance with relevant procedures, PPE requirements and safe systems of work.
  • Follow HACCP requirements and maintain awareness of food safety and contamination risks.
  • Report maintenance issues, hazards and safety concerns promptly to the relevant manager.

What We're Looking For

  • At least 2 years' experience in an electrical or mechanical maintenance role within a fast-paced production environment.
  • A recognised apprenticeship or formal qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • A flexible, organised approach and willingness to learn and develop your skills.
  • Comfortable working a rotating shift pattern, including days, nights and weekends.
